A new approach to equine care.

Superior care. Premier experience. Unmatched convenience.

At Teton Equine, our ambulatory practice is designed to optimize the patient and client experience. Our veterinary professionals come to you and our mobile clinic is designed with state-of-the-art diagnostics, built-in laboratory equipment and stocked with medications, enabling us to provide unrivaled testing and advanced treatment options for the majority of equine medical and surgical needs. The result is increased convenience for our clients, and the highest quality on-site care for our patients.

Unlike traditional, clinic-centric models that prioritize speed and number of patients seen per day, our protocol is designed to ensure that our clients are given a personal world-class experience tailored to their individual horse. Our ambulatory model maximizes the time we spend with our patients in their home and natural environment, providing them dedicated, individualized care.

Dr. Abby Matthaeus, DVM

Founder, Managing Veterinarian

Dr. Abby Matthaeus grew up in Western Washington, where she attended the University of Washington in Seattle, earning a BA in Biology and Psychology. Dr. Matthaeus attended Washington State University where she earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine.

After graduating from WSU, Dr. Matthaeus moved to Boise, working as an intern veterinarian at Idaho Equine Hospital. Post-internship, Idaho Falls became her home, practicing at Willowcreek Animal Hospital for four years specializing in equine medicine and surgery.

Dr. Matthaeus then founded Teton Equine, and has a passion for lameness and sports medicine but enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary medicine.

In her time off, Dr. Matthaeus enjoys spending time with her dogs, four horses and two mules. She particularly enjoys riding up into the mountains, hunting, fly-fishing, and spending time outdoors

Dr. Morgan Poisson, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Poisson grew up in Rhode Island and Missouri. She attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Biology and minored in Equine Studies. Dr. Poisson went on to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

After obtaining her doctorate of veterinary medicine, Dr. Poisson moved to Phoenix, AZ to complete her internship at Durango Equine Veterinary Clinic where she specialized in equine theriogenology (reproduction) and general practice.  They loved her so much there that they then hired her on as an associate veterinarian.

Dr. Poisson has a passion for internal medicine, emergency medicine, wound management, preventative medicine, and neonatology.

When not tending to the horses, she can be found hiking with her dog, playing tennis, or enjoying the great outdoors. But Dr. Poisson wanted to escape the Arizona heat and enjoy what Idaho and Wyoming have to offer, we feel very blessed that she chose to move to Idaho to practice, and that we have her here on the team at Teton Equine!!

Shaylee Warner

Veterinary Technician

Teton Equine happily welcomes our technician Shaylee Warner to the team! Shaylee is a South-Eastern Idaho native, but if you were to ask her where she’s from it wouldn’t be a simple answer. Although she was born and raised in Rigby Idaho, she spends her winters in Congress Arizona, soaking up the beautiful weather and bounty of jackpot ropings. She previously attended Clarendon College on a Rodeo Scholarship, competing in the breakaway and team roping events. Her time in Clarendon Texas not only awarded her a 3.95 GPA and Associates Degree in General Studies, but also opened many doors in regards to her academic future.

This fall, Shaylee plans to continue her educational career as she pursues a Bachelor’s of Elementary Education at GCU. Shaylee is passionate about a teaching career and plans to share her love of education, in hope of impacting young student lives. Additionally, she is eager to enjoy the freedom of online classes allowing her to spend more time on the backs of her horses- Quill and June Bug. Shaylee plans to show June Bug in the Riata Buckle Futurity breakaway roping this year!

Her parents, Jason and Shawna Warner, two highly renowned rope horse trainers, have instilled in Shaylee, a love and respect for horses and the Western way of life. Shaylee feels that working as a veterinary assistant alongside Dr. Matthaeus and Dr. Poisson at Teton Equine Veterinary Practice is the best way to garner an advanced knowledge of primary medical care for the animals she is most passionate about as she could never imagine a life without horses.

Alisson Young

Veterinary Assistant

Allie grew up in the state of Washington where she fell in love with horses at a young age, as a little girl she participated in 4-H and began showing horses in the Paint Horse Circuit. Her passion didn't stop there, Allie bred and raised quarter horses that she trained and shown within the reined cow horse world. However, over the last couple years horses have taken a back seat as Allie has focused her energy on raising her two amazing sons and creating her own little family. But now that her two sons are older and turning into young gentlemen, Allie plans to return to her lifelong passion and has begun to breed and show Appaloosa horses! Allie has spent many years working in the field of veterinary medicine as a technician for multiple different equine veterinary practices and the horses seem to feel right at home with her! She has a gentle and calming way with horses that puts their nerves at ease! She is excited to continue expanding and developing her knowledge of equine veterinary medicine here at Teton Equine.

When Allie is not working she enjoys spending her time with her family and trail riding in the mountains. She has also fulfilled another lifelong dream of hers- raising Scottish Highland cattle and boy are they adorable!!! Currently, Allie's herd consists of 30 head!!!!! And with the help of her husband, together they ranch and raise several highland calves a year! They plan to continue growing their herd and follow their dreams of living the farm and ranch lifestyle that has become so rare these days! We feel very lucky to have found Allie and are so happy she is now part of the team!
