A new approach to equine care.

Superior care. Premier experience. Unmatched convenience.

At Teton Equine, our ambulatory practice is designed to optimize the patient and client experience. Our veterinary professionals come to you and our mobile clinic is designed with state-of-the-art diagnostics, built-in laboratory equipment and stocked with medications, enabling us to provide unrivaled testing and advanced treatment options for the majority of equine medical and surgical needs. The result is increased convenience for our clients, and the highest quality on-site care for our patients.

Unlike traditional, clinic-centric models that prioritize speed and number of patients seen per day, our protocol is designed to ensure that our clients are given a personal world-class experience tailored to their individual horse. Our ambulatory model maximizes the time we spend with our patients in their home and natural environment, providing them dedicated, individualized care.

Dr. Abby Matthaeus, DVM

Founder, Managing Veterinarian

Dr. Abby Matthaeus grew up in Western Washington, where she attended the University of Washington in Seattle, earning a BA in Biology and Psychology. Dr. Matthaeus attended Washington State University where she earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine.

After graduating from WSU, Dr. Matthaeus moved to Boise, working as an intern veterinarian at Idaho Equine Hospital. Post-internship, Idaho Falls became her home, practicing at Willowcreek Animal Hospital for four years specializing in equine medicine and surgery.

Dr. Matthaeus then founded Teton Equine, and has a passion for lameness and sports medicine but enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary medicine.

In her time off, Dr. Matthaeus enjoys spending time with her dogs, four horses and two mules. She particularly enjoys riding up into the mountains, hunting, fly-fishing, and spending time outdoors

Dr. Morgan Poisson, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Poisson grew up in Rhode Island and Missouri. She attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Biology and minored in Equine Studies. Dr. Poisson went on to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

After obtaining her doctorate of veterinary medicine, Dr. Poisson moved to Phoenix, AZ to complete her internship at Durango Equine Veterinary Clinic where she specialized in equine theriogenology (reproduction) and general practice.  They loved her so much there that they then hired her on as an associate veterinarian.

Dr. Poisson has a passion for internal medicine, emergency medicine, wound management, preventative medicine, and neonatology.

When not tending to the horses, she can be found hiking with her dog, playing tennis, or enjoying the great outdoors. But Dr. Poisson wanted to escape the Arizona heat and enjoy what Idaho and Wyoming have to offer, we feel very blessed that she chose to move to Idaho to practice, and that we have her here on the team at Teton Equine!!

Emmylou Capson

Veterinary Receptionist

If you have ever called into our veterinary practice, you have likely had the opportunity to hear the sweet voice of Emmylou Capson! She is our wonderful and hard-working receptionist! Emmylou has always loved horses, even since before she could remember! Growing up, Emmylou was always on the back of a horse, she humorously exclaims that she even learned to ride before she could figure out how to walk.

As a child she grew up busy showing horses/steers, participating in 4-H and FFA programs, and then transitioning to high school rodeo in her teenage years. Prior to working with us here at Teton Equine Veterinary Practice, Emmylou spent eight years employed as a Veterinary Technician caring for equine patients and working alongside other veterinarians in the region.

Emmylou and her husband are currently 4th generation ranchers in Eastern Idaho and are loving parents to three little girls and a little boy. The youngest of which being a set of twins. The Capson family continues to keep the passion for the “ranch way” of life alive as she takes pleasure in providing her kids with an education in caring for the horses they ride and the cattle they raise on their ranch. But there wasn’t much convincing necessary, as her kids have taken to the ranch life like fish to water. Diving head first, her kids participate in rodeos, barrel racing events and jackpots alike. Needless to say Emmylou is used to having her hands full!

When Emmylou is not working, she can be found spending time with her family, hunting in the mountains, enjoying the wilderness, or helping her husband with the cows on their ranch. We feel lucky to have found such an amazing young woman who always answers the phone cheerfully and prides herself on helping people and their horses on a daily basis. We couldn’t be more proud to have her!

Bridget Scaffide

Veterinary Assistant

Bridget can say that she literally grew up in a barn! Since her family owns an equestrian center nestled in beautiful Alpine, Wyoming. Consequently, as a little girl, any free time she had was spent out with the horses. In fact, Bridget was riding horses before she could even walk! As a child she actively participated in 4-H, showing both horses and dogs. Bridget was a hard worker even at young age, helping her family manage and run their equestrian center as well as care for her own 4-legged creatures. Throughout junior high and high school Bridget has been competitively involved in barrel racing and breakaway roping, successfully training her own quarter horses to compete at a high level.

Bridget not only lives and competes in Western Wyoming and Eastern Idaho, but she also travels to Wickenburg, Arizona in the winter where she continues to work at Teton Equine Vet with Dr. Abby Matthaeus, and competes on her horses year round. And you guessed it.........College Rodeo is in the plans for Bridget as she continues to expand her knowledge of the profession by earning a degree in Agricultural Business and Minor in Equine Studies. Bridget’s long term goal is to pursue a career in Equine Reproduction. Although Bridget lives and breathes horses, when she isn’t at rodeos, studying, or working, she enjoys trail riding, wake surfing on the lake, hiking, and spending time outdoors with her horses and dog.

Alisson Young

Veterinary Assistant

Allie grew up in the state of Washington where she fell in love with horses at a young age, as a little girl she participated in 4-H and began showing horses in the Paint Horse Circuit. Her passion didn't stop there, Allie bred and raised quarter horses that she trained and shown within the reined cow horse world. However, over the last couple years horses have taken a back seat as Allie has focused her energy on raising her two amazing sons and creating her own little family. But now that her two sons are older and turning into young gentlemen, Allie plans to return to her lifelong passion and has begun to breed and show Appaloosa horses! Allie has spent many years working in the field of veterinary medicine as a technician for multiple different equine veterinary practices and the horses seem to feel right at home with her! She has a gentle and calming way with horses that puts their nerves at ease! She is excited to continue expanding and developing her knowledge of equine veterinary medicine here at Teton Equine.

When Allie is not working she enjoys spending her time with her family and trail riding in the mountains. She has also fulfilled another lifelong dream of hers- raising Scottish Highland cattle and boy are they adorable!!! Currently, Allie's herd consists of 30 head!!!!! And with the help of her husband, together they ranch and raise several highland calves a year! They plan to continue growing their herd and follow their dreams of living the farm and ranch lifestyle that has become so rare these days! We feel very lucky to have found Allie and are so happy she is now part of the team!
